Vietnamese coffee

By swwosh
Last saturday, me, joy n michelle went to William Street for lunch at this vietnamese restaurant. Joy ordered vietnamese coffee, which I thought at first was jus normal coffee that we drink. Coffee powder, condensed milk, hot water. That's it you know? But, what the waitress gave her was something DIFFERENT, something UNUSUAL.... that's why i'm gonna share with y'all today.... "HOW TO MAKE VIETNAMESE COFFEE!!!" But first of all, i'll show u some pics i took of the joyful Joy and her coffee. ENJOY!!!! =D
~yup, the UNUSUAL THING (the metal cup thingy)~

~aaww, look at her.... soooo....happy? lol~

~the final product~

okay, that's the boring part... it's only joy...pfft... xD NOW!!!!! the interesting part!!! how to make VIETNAMESE COFFEE!!!!!!!

***drum roll!!!!***

HOW TO MAKE VIETNAMESE COFFEE!!!

BY: SWWOSH (NOT REALLY.... GOT IT OFF SOME WEBSITE REALLY... =p)

STEP 1: First of all, take a cup, poke 2 holes on 2 sides of the condensed milk can and put it on angle so that the condensed milk will flow into the cup like shown. Depends how sweet u want it, tilt the can up once u think it's enough. If u dun mind getting diabetes...be my guest!!! =D

STEP 2: Prepare the....the....the....Urm...wad's the word... tools? coffee tools? wadeva! u know wad i mean.. =P *ahem* u'll need a Vietnamese Coffee Filter. From the picture, there's 3 parts to the whole mechanism. There's the top screen (which compresses the coffee powder), filter device (which sits on top of a cup and filters the coffee powder) and the lid (to make the coffee richer in taste??? i dunno....) Hhmm... i wonder why joy din get a lid for hers...

STEP 3: Place in 3 and a half teaspoons of coffee powder. Which ever brand u like, but since this is Vietnamese Coffee, and not Malaysian Coffee, i will introduce to u a vietnamese brand.

..::*** INTRODUCING!!!! ***::..

"Trung Nguyen coffeesare one of the most sought-after pleasures by tourists when visiting Vietnam. Now you can taste the unique flavors and aromas of world-famous, gourmet"

(I'm suprised by how fluent their english is!!! I MEAN!!!! ooh!!! TRUNG NGUYEN's coffee is simply MAGNIFICENT!!!! =D)

ANYWAYS! Once you've got ur coffee powder in the filter device, screw in the top screen. Now, from what i read from the website, it says not to screw it TOO tight... Hhhmm... i wonder why??? Any how, just follow the instructions. ^^

STEP 4: Pour hot water into the device until it is about 1/4 full. Wait 20 seconds (yes, look at the clock). If all the water flows through in the time, you need to tighten the filter more.

STEP 5: Unscrew the filter two complete turns. If it is too tight, you can typically use a quarter as a screw driver. Only loosen it two turns (but not less, either! jeez.... so mahuan... =S).

STEP 6: Fill the filter with hot water, place the cover on top and wait! The last time, Joy waited for about 5 minutes for the water to drip finish into cup!!!

STEP 7: FINALLY!!!!! the water has finally dripped finish... and u can now taste the FAMOUS VIETNAMESE COFFEE!!!

And there u have it! how to make vietname coffee... IN 7 BLOODY LONG STEPS!!!! i think i should stick with my Nescafe 3 in 1.

Anyways, hope you guys enjoyed my short session of "HOW TO MAKE VIETNAMESE COFFEE!!!" Tune in next time for more!!! =D

Thanks for the post--- I bought my little urns, but was confused about the filter part of it. You really helped!
